Toyota Plans $1 Billion Investment in Kentucky and Indiana Plants
Toyota announced Monday it will invest $1 billion to expand its operations in Kentucky and Indiana.
About 80 percent of the investment will go to its Georgetown, Kentucky, plant, which will be upgraded to produce a second battery electric vehicle and increase capacity for Camry sedans and RAV4 crossovers.
Another $200 million will go to Indiana plants to create more space for Toyota’s Grand Highlander SUV.
This investment is part of Toyota’s larger plan to spend up to $10 billion in U.S. plants over the next five years. The automaker remains the world’s top-selling carmaker, focusing on growth in both electric and traditional vehicles.
