Warm Friday Before Storms Saturday- And Where is Fall?
Happy Friday, WKU!!
Today is a beautiful day to start the weekend. It is mostly sunny out there right now, but clouds will creep in during the overnight hours tonight. We will reach a high of 80 degrees this afternoon. Overnight lows dip to the 60-degree mark.
Looking to tomorrow, clouds continue to increase and showers become possible after 1 pm with a high in the mid-80s. Tomorrow will be gusty with sustained winds into the teens and gusts up to 20 mph. Looking to Saturday night, we are looking at a marginal severe threat, but it is leaning towards a mainly straight line wind event. A strong cold front will bring heavy rain and wind into the region overnight, around 10 pm through the morning hours on Sunday. Heavy rain could bring flash flooding in typical trouble areas, and strong winds could knock over any unsecured items.
Sunday morning, lingering showers could stick around until after 1 pm, but coverage will be spotty. After the front moves through the region, post-frontal winds will remain with sustained winds in the upper teens and gusts maximizing at just below 30mph. The high Sunday will be around 66 degrees, ending our streak of hot weather and finally getting us to the fall temperatures we’ve all been waiting for.
For the beginning of the work week, Monday will be sunny with a high of around 70 degrees. Have a great weekend, Hilltoppers!
