More Than 50 Cats Rescued From Lexington Home
More than 50 cats and kittens were rescued from a Lexington home after an eviction on Friday. Animal care says the home owner asked for help after the number of cats grew out of control.
Officials reported that most of the cats were in good condition, but taking in so many new animals at once put a strain on the shelters resources. The Humane Society says that cases like this one highlight the importance of neutering pets to avoid overpopulation. The shelter offers free or reduced cost surgery options for the community.
The cats that were taken in are currently being treated and vaccinated. After they are taken care of, they will be available for adoption. The shelter staff says that adopting not only gives the animal a home, but it also makes room for others.
