Vanderbilt Med Center Ends Transgender Surgery
Vanderbilt University Medical Center has stopped performing transgender surgeries because of a lack of surgical coverage and operational limitations.
The hospital states that Vanderbilt Health will continue to provide care for patients over the age of 19 who seek non surgical, gender affirming care.
Some advocates claim that this move is a setback for the LGBTQ+ community.
In related news, a bill is moving through state legislature which would ban TennCare insurance from covering gender affirming treatment for adults.
