Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear on SOTU

Governor Andy Beshear comments on President Donald Trump after his recent Presidential address. Beshear claims that President Trump was creating more political division and presented policies that could negatively affect rural America.

Beshear said that while public safety is critical, Kentucky has already seen declines in violence and crime. When discussing immigration, Beshear called for the withdrawal and retraining of ICE agents, but said that Kentucky would help assist in apprehending dangerous individuals if notified.

Governor Beshear also criticized what he referred to as Trump’s “big ugly bill,” arguing that Medicare cuts would have sever repercussions for Kentucky. The Kentucky Governor claims that the changes could close 35 hospitals, eliminate close to 20,000 jobs, and take away health coverage from nearly 200,000 residents.

Beshear said that the Democrats have to be more than just against Trump, they have to be for the American people.
