SPARTANS CHARGE PAST THE PURPLES, 45-14

A Black Sea covered southern Kentucky as head coach Brandon Smith led his team to another statement win.
South Warren comes out on defense with nothing but energy and forced the punt. The Spartans drove down the field as Camden Page connected with Caden York for the first touchdown of the game which made the score 7-0 in the 1st Quarter. Bowling Green looked to answer as they drove down the field gaining momentum. Bowling Green answered on a deep shot which tied the game up 7-7 in the 1st Quarter. Bowling Green kept the momentum going with 2 sacks to start the drive forcing a punt but it was wiped off because of a penalty. The Purples still got the stop to set up their offense, which was clicking as the quarter ended with the score tied at 7-7. South had all the momentum after going up 14-7 and getting a stop on defense. South finished the 2nd Quarter on a 10-0 run after Bowling Green answered back as they lead going into the half 17-7. The Spartans came out with fireworks in the second half boosted by a big kickoff return as they scored on 4th down again with a passing touchdown from Camden Page which made the score 24-7 in the 3rd Quarter. The Spartans continued dominating as they punched the ball out for a turnover on the first play of the drive. South Warren looked dominant as Bowing Green started to look like they were giving up on the game. As the Spartans scored again which made the score 31-7 and The Spartans got another turnover for the second straight drive and scored again pushing the lead to 38-7. For the 3rd straight drive another Bowling Green turnover on the first play of the drive allowed South Warren to score again off of the turnover which made the lead 45-7. Bowling Green would score again in garbage time which made the final score 45-14. This is Bowling Green’s largest loss since 2021 when they lost to the Boyle County Rebels 31-0. The score doesn’t do this game justice, as South Warren dominated – the Spartans forced 3 straight turnovers and capitalized off of those turnovers for 21 straight points. South Warren improves to 4-0 for the second straight year. The Spartans will go on the road next week to face 3-1 Hopkinsville who just beat Trigg County 55-28. Bowling Green drops to 0-4 for the first time in 68 years, when they went 0-10-1. The Purples haven’t lost 3 straight games since 2021, but they will look to shift the outlook of their season as the next 2 weeks are going to be a challenge. The Purples will play at home next week vs 2-2 Barren County who just lost to Monroe County 21-14. The week after that the Purples will play at 4-0 Christian Academy-Louisville who just beat Ryle 34-27. Christian Academy-Louisville ranks #2 in the State which poses a challenge for a Bowling Green team trying to turn their season around.
